Young voices, global heritage

A new wave of heritage champions is emerging through the INTO Youth committee, a dynamic group of young leaders from across the globe who are redefining what it means to protect and promote cultural heritage.

From the Caribbean to Central Europe, and from Uganda to Pakistan, these youth advocates bring a rich tapestry of experiences, perspectives and ambitions. What unites them is a shared belief: heritage is not just about the past – it’s a living resource that can shape sustainable, inclusive futures.

Their motivations are rooted in personal journeys – some sparked by grassroots activism, others by academic research or creative enterprise. Whether leading land rights movements, founding sustainable fashion brands, or coordinating heritage education in schools, these young leaders are already making tangible impacts in their communities.

But the INTO Youth Committee is more than a platform for individual voices. It is a collaborative space where ideas are exchanged, strategies are co-created, and global solidarity is built. Members are eager to connect heritage with climate action, digital innovation and social justice, ensuring that conservation efforts reflect the realities and aspirations of today’s youth.

Looking ahead, the committee aims to amplify youth-led initiatives at international forums, develop creative engagement tools and foster intergenerational dialogue. Their vision is bold: to transform heritage from a static concept into a dynamic force for resilience, identity, and change.

As INTO continues to grow its global network, the Youth Committee stands ready to bring energy, insight and imagination to the heart of heritage conservation.

Heritage must be understood not just as monuments of the past but as a living resource that connects communities, inspires creativity, and guides sustainable futures.
