INTO launches new £25,000 Helen Hamlyn Award to support global heritage

INTO is delighted to announce the inaugural Helen Hamlyn Award, a new funding opportunity that will support  heritage across its global membership network.

The award will provide £25,000 to an INTO member organisation in early 2027 to deliver a project that breathes new life into a heritage space, creating lasting benefits for the places in its care and the communities they serve.

The new initiative builds on the longstanding partnership between INTO and the Helen Hamlyn Trust, whose support has helped strengthen professional development, leadership and innovation across the international heritage sector through programmes including TAP INTO, the Incubator and Heritage Leaders.

The award is designed to support projects that demonstrate creativity, visibility and long-term impact while drawing inspiration from the knowledge, expertise and connections available through the INTO network. Eligible projects must take place at a heritage site already in the care of an INTO member organisation and be delivered within 18 months from early 2027.

Applications are now open through an initial Expression of Interest process, with submissions welcomed until 6 November 2026. Following this stage, between three and five organisations will be invited to work with the INTO Secretariat to develop a detailed proposal.

The award will pioritise applications from less well-resourced member organisations and encourage projects that build on ideas, approaches or expertise developed elsewhere within the INTO network.

An online information session for prospective applicants will take place on 29 September 2026, providing an opportunity to learn more about the award and ask questions about the application process.
